Summer and Fall 2007 Registration Update

Early Registration may be a thing of the past, but there's still time to register!

Mark your calendars for the next opportunity to register for summer and fall 2007 courses. For specific course information contact your program representatives or check your Columbia University email for messages they may have sent you recently. Also make a note of when the late registration period begins for the terms you are registering for, since this is when financial penalties will start to be enforced. Using your UNI and password, log into Student Services Online (SSOL) to find your appointment times and PIN and follow the registration instructions given.

Columbia U: A Thriving International Community

One of the great things about Columbia University is the mosaic of languages and cultures encountered throughout. Turns out, Columbia University has one of the most vibrant international communities around. In fact Columbia ranks 4th among the more than 2,500 US colleges and universities reporting international enrollments according to the most recent national data available. Let's take a closer look:

• For students, the top five countries of origin are China, South Korea, Canada, India, and Japan. For scholars, the largest representations are from China, Japan, Germany, France, and South Korea.


• Three-quarters of international enrollment is at the graduate and professional level; 11% enroll at the undergraduate level; 9% enroll in the American Language Program, Columbia's world-renowned center for instruction in English as a second language


• Large international enrollments are found in Engineering, Business, and International Affairs.


• Columbia's international students choose engineering, public affairs, business, and social sciences as their most popular fields of study.


• More than 40% of international enrollments are female; 11% are married and accompanied by spouses; almost 90% are on Student (F) visas; and roughly 30% receive full or partial scholarship or fellowship support from the University. (source: ISSO Fall Report)
